BAILLOUT NEW YORK — or BNY — was officially founded by Dontavian Baillie in 2015.
But the truth is, the story started long before that.
Growing up in a small town buried inside a big-name state like New York, you learn quickly what it feels like to be unseen. The headlines come from the cities. The noise comes from the boroughs. And voices like mine — like ours — get drowned out before they even rise.
But being overlooked didn’t silence me.
It lit a fire.
If my voice couldn’t be heard, I would find another way to speak.
Art became that voice.
Before fashion ever entered my world, I spent years expressing myself through sketches, symbols, and images. When I finally crossed into streetwear, everything clicked. Surrounded by older influences — my uncle and his circle — I learned by watching, studying, absorbing what real people gravitated toward.
From that perspective came a vision of my own:
Streetwear that told stories.
Design that spoke rebellion, truth, history, and future all at once.
Art that honored small towns overlooked and talent ignored.
That’s where Baillout came from.
The name isn’t just my last name twisted into something new.
It’s a declaration — a belief that art can save communities, culture, and souls the same way a bailout saves a collapsing system.
BNY is an art company first — clothing is simply our favorite canvas.
Every drop carries emotion, memory, and a piece of the narrative we’re still writing.
One thing will always remain true:

The world needs a Baillout.
